Just 9 km from Florence on the historical via Chiantigiana to Siena, the farmhouse La Presura is the first agricultural farm to open its gates to the sweet hills of Chianti Classico, where the perfect harmony of the slopes, hills and views make this land a place of simple but incredible charm.
The old nucleus of the farmhouse dates back to the middle age, it was a watch tower looking on the valley of the river Ema between Florence and Siena. The tower and its surrounding terrain were bought by a lucky chance during a napoleonic war by the Bucciolini family, who worked on this purchase dividing it into holdings with associated farmhouses and a master villa that was called “La Presura”. The name Presura is derived from a plant very similar to the thistle, once very common in the area, which the sheperds used for curdeling milk and producing pecorino cheese, much more easily digested than cheese producted with animal curdeling.
Currently the farm house, managed by Federico Bucciolini, extends to 35 hectares cultivated with vinyards and olive trees, offering in addition hospitality inside his farmhouse composed of 10 single apartments delicately restored respecting the standards of the original Chiantigiana farmhouse: terracotta, wood and stone. It also has a swimming pool.
Over the last years the cellars were restored with great passion, with the objective of producing high quality wine, that combines modern technologies and antique traditions famous all over the world.
